“Firraru” means “blacksmith” in Sicilian dialect and is the name of this vineyard, which differs from the other calcareous white vineyards on the estate due to the high iron content in the soil, which gives it a dark colour.

It is an extremely bright parcel of Grillo grapes, which has a natural slope and benefits from the sea breezes of the Ionian Sea, which promote ideal ripening of the grapes. Grillo is a very versatile variety which, thanks to its characteristics, has excellent ageing potential and lends itself to different vinification methods: we wanted to enhance it in a single vineyard that is even softer, rounder and more structured. It is then aged in small 3hl first-use barrels of three different toasts (blonde, medium and coeur) for about 1 year, for a limited production of a great Sicilian white wine, to be drunk young or aged and enjoyed over the years.
